Kelp, a kind of  brown algae or seaweed, acts as a sponge in the ocean to absorb all of the nutrients found in sea salt, and then some.  A key element of Kelp is Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide which can only be found in seaweed, and is being seriously studied as a natural anti-cancer agent, purported to actually cause cancer cells to “self-destruct.”   Kelp promotes healthier skin, is antioxidant, and inhibits the uptake of heavy metals through sodium alginate.  It contains large quantities of iodine, and thus improves glandular function and metabolism.  It also contains iron, calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus, as well as vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D, E and amino acids. Because it increases circulation in the skin, it also helps prevent cellulite.
